Talk by Dr Richard Walker

Dartmoor Search and Rescue

20 Years of Dartmoor Search and Rescue

Dr Richard Walker has been a Consultant in Intensive Care medicine and Anaesthesia at Torbay Hospital since 2008.
Having moved to Devon from London in 1998, he got involved in Search and Rescue largely by mistake...
Keen not to offend "a very large bloke in the pub", Richard agreed to be "a body on the moor" for a training exercise - and was immediately hooked!
After completing training, he joined the Ashburton section of Dartmoor Search and Rescue and has remained a member ever since.
The team covers the southern and eastern portion of the moor as well as surrounding areas as far as the coastal path boundary.
The talk will explore some of the ways Richard's experience with the team has shaped his approach to medicine.
We are also promised lots of pretty pictures...!
* Please note that payment will be required at least one week in advance of the event. Cancellations received within 48 hours of the event cannot be refunded.
