The Tide of Teaching
Torbay’s Role in Shaping Future Clinicians
Torbay Hospital is more than a remote medical student placement — it’s a vibrant community of educators, learners, and innovators.
This talk celebrates Torbay’s growing role in clinical education, shining a light on the teaching culture that supports and inspires the next generation of doctors.
It will begin with insights into the undergraduate teaching fellow role and how it enriches learner experience.
The talk continues with a student-led introduction to the Student Torbay Medical Society (STorMS) — a unique initiative building identity and community for students on placement in Torbay Hospital.
Finally, the students will showcase four diverse projects, presented at the recent STorMS Undergraduate Conference 2025, exploring:
- How a lack of diversity in medical imagery affects the quality of healthcare
- To Cut or Not to Cut – Paediatric appendicitis management
- Student perspectives on using real patients in the Clinical Professional Skills Assessment (CPSA)
- Chlorhexidine and anaphylaxis
Join us to discover how teaching and learning at Torbay are evolving — and how every educator, student, and project contributes to a growing culture of clinical excellence.
